How it works

You write it down. We make sure it happens.

A Kinly membership covers all your legal estate documents, your customized care plan, a 24/7 hotline, and a chartered trust company authorized to act on what you wrote.

Here is what that looks like, from the day you join to the day it matters.

Getting set up

  1. 1

    Become a Kinly member

Sign up in less than 5 minutes, or request a free consult to answer any questions you might have.

  2. 2

    Finalize your legal estate documents

We work with you to finalize your will, trust, medical POA, and financial POA.

  3. 3

    Write your care plan

Use our custom software to note everything that only you know: the treatments you'd want and the ones you'd refuse, who to call first, what the dog eats, where the keys are. It takes an afternoon, and you can update it any time.

  4. 4

    Your team is on call

Any hour, 24/7/365, people who already have your plan in front of them are on call and ready to help. Your Kinly membership card keeps the hotline number in your wallet.

The call at 3 a.m.

Someone picks up, and then things get handled.

Any time you need help, we are here for you.

  1. The hospital calls the number on your card

Any hour. We confirm who you are and send your medical information straight through.

  2. Your wishes go with it

Not a form letter. What you wrote in your care plan, in your words. Your card says it plainly: you have an authorized medical decision-maker and a written care record on file, so please call before deciding.

  3. Whoever you named acts on what you wrote

If you can't speak for yourself, your medical power of attorney makes the call, following your plan. That can be Kinly, or a person you chose first with Kinly behind them.

  4. The people who should know are called

In the order you set, by the people who have your list.

  5. Ordinary life keeps going

Your bills get paid. Your plants get watered. Your dog gets her afternoon walk. Your house is looked after until you're back at home.

  6. And when the time comes

Your executor settles your estate exactly as you wrote it, and your trustee manages what's held in your trust, so the people who love you can just remember you.

Your legal documents

Four documents, four roles, and you choose who fills each one.

A membership includes a will, a revocable trust, a medical power of attorney and a financial power of attorney, written for your state. Each names someone to act in a role.

RoleWhat that person does
Medical power of attorneyMakes healthcare decisions when you can't communicate.
Financial power of attorneyHandles money and accounts while you're alive but unable to manage them.
ExecutorSettles your estate after you die.
TrusteeManages whatever is held in your trust.

You set the order in every role

Each of the four roles is named separately, and you choose who comes first in each one. Kinly can step in for any or all of the roles, in any order.

Name your sister as your medical power of attorney with Kinly as the backup if she can't serve. Name Kinly as your executor but keep your brother as your financial power of attorney. Some people put a person they know first in the roles that feel personal and Kinly behind them everywhere, so there's always someone, even when the first choice can't step in.

Who acts on your plan

Kinly's fiduciary partner is a chartered trust company, which means it is legally required to act in your interest and follow what you wrote. It works with a network of care professionals who are authorized to step in.

What it costs

$999 a year for one person, $1,499 for a couple. And always backed by our Kinly Lifetime Promise.
